Spex and Gary are both experienced musicians from different backgrounds and are best friends living in Levin.
They were introduced 3 years ago by a local drummer at one of Spex’s rock covers band gigs. They hit it off instantly and have been regularly jamming up and down the country with a variety of different rock bands.
The idea to go “unplugged” came whilst discussing working together under a more permanent arrangement over beers at Spex’s house. Both agreed that to start yet another covers band when they were already both in separate covers bands was not the way and that’s when the plan to get out the acoustic guitars was hatched. From the moment they started it was obvious that they had something special and from that point on things moved quickly with gig offers appearing as word travelled. Since they have been together they have recorded 3 DVD’s and played numerous times from Wellington to Te Awamutu with repeat bookings at every venue they have visited so far.

He fronts a very successful rock covers band called Homage which he put together over 15 years ago and is still going strong. He is an amazing guitarist and covers all musical styles with ease. He has a seemingly endless repertoire and is held in the highest regard within the local musician’s circuit.
Gary
Gary is from the UK and has lived in New Zealand for nearly 5 years. In the UK he played with various rock bands for the past 30 years. He has recorded 2 albums –Ace Lane See You In Heaven and The Danse Society. He has toured both the UK and France for many years. He supported the Stranglers at the Bourges Art Festival in front of 10000 people and has played the prestigious Marquee Club twice and also appeared at the notorious Nottingham Rock City back in 1985. Note: an acoustic covers band is not a full on dance band. True, you can dance to them if you only have a small crowd but their primary function is to provide covers of tunes as an ambient theme setting a bit like your radio.
Ideal for: smaller intimate wedding dance, private party, corporate dance function
