June Hayes returns to New Zealand’s entertainment scene with fresh versatility.
Widely renowned jazz singer ‘with a voice like velvet’, June’s ‘new groove’ embraces jazz and contemporary classic popular music comfortably blending two musical genre in ways that provide the ideal entertainment package for a wide variety of events.
With an ever increasing song list of over 450 jazz and contemporary tunes, June and her group The June Hayes Set will design their performance to meet the needs, theme and mood of your event.
·Subtle background sound
·Cameo performances
·Elegant, sophisticated classic jazz
·Grooving contemporary classic pops
·Dance music – gliding through a mix of jazz, blues and classic pops
June’s reputation as the jazz singer with a ‘voice like velvet’ has seen her perform for a wide variety of corporate, private events, and festivals throughout New Zealand including Napier’s Art Deco Festival, the Tauranga Jazz Festival, Devonport Wine & Food Festival, Cornwall Park Summer Music Series, Auckland’s People in Parks and numerous others, backed by a who’s who of Auckland’s finest musicians.
One of her most memorable New Zealand performances was for the Manukau Business Enterprise Awards, where at the last minute June was asked to sing New Zealand’s National Anthem in Te Reo and English before the Prime Minister and other ministerial dignitaries, for which she earned enormous praise.
The 2001 release of her debut jazz album, ‘June Hayes – To whom it may concern’ earned a special appearance at the 2002 Brecon International Jazz Festival in Wales, performing alongside internationally renowned drummer - the late Martin Drew and UK bassist Andy Kleindert who at that time was resident at Ronny Scott’s in London.
In 2012 while travelling abroad, June performed a ‘sell-out’ fine dining jazz experience with a line-up of jazz musicians from ‘Ipswich’.
After an almost two year break from New Zealand's entertainment scene June is making a come back with some new strings to her bow.
Her newly released album, 'June Hayes - Journey for the return home' , a project twelve months in the making, was launched on 26 January 2013 in Russell. This collection of all original music exposes June’s hidden talent for songwriting. She describes this creative side of herself as ‘a contemporary singer/songwriter and 'powerfully penned' lyricist’. 'For some reason writing poetry and lyrics comes easily to me. And just as easily tunes seem to pop into my head. When the two arrive together and gel, its magic!', June says.
With the album now out in the market place, audiences can look forward to seeing, hearing and being entertained by June and 'The June Hayes Set'.

Thank you Pete,
Yes, the consensus around the office has been that Saturday night was a roaring success. We had several comments from guests that the jazz band was very professional and set the mood beautifully. June and the band sounded great, I really enjoyed the upbeat repertoire. Thank you for being so reliable and I hope that we will have the opportunity to call upon your talents again in the future.
Kind Regards,

Dear Pete
Thanks very much for the excellent music on Saturday at our combined 50th / 80th birthdays. The band was a highlight for me. Live music that is vibrant but also unobtrusive was just the effect I was hoping for. It was great.
