John Carr is an MC, a stand-up comedian, a cartoonist and a performance poet. Despite looking more like the Mad Butcher’s grandfather than Kanye West, he is also New Zealand’s finest comedy rapper.
After making a delayed start to his comedy career in 2009, John quickly became an audience favourite at Auckland’s famous Classic Comedy Bar. His hilarious raps and clever stand-up routines appeal to audiences young and old, male and female, rural and urban. With ten years of experience at drawing a weekly cartoon for New Zealand’s largest rural newspaper, John even has the ability to make dairy farmers laugh.
John has performed and MCed at both corporate and community events. He has also had wide experience and much enjoyment at entertaining primary and secondary school audiences as a visiting author.
