Olivier Holland’s: Gypsy Jazz Attack
Gypsy Jazz Attack is a 3-5 piece group that utilises the traditional instrumentation of Gypsy Jazz. (occasionally called ‘Manouche’). This super energetic, yet traditional music is extremely popular, especially in Europe.
German bassist and composer Olivier Holland, who migrated to New Zealand on board his yacht in 2002, has been playing Gypsy Jazz since the early 90s. Within this genre he has performed with some of the world’s best: Danny Weiss and (Germany-based) Joscho Stephan, who has been hailed “World’s best Gypsy Jazz Guitarist” a number of times in music reviews. Olivier and Joscho have collaborated since the mid-90s, on many live performances and five CD albums.
Oliver has now gathered a group of young, mega-talented musicians to form the group Gypsy Jazz Attack in order to bring this fantastic music to New Zealand. Gypsy Jazz Attack performs and honours the traditional art form of Gypsy Jazz but will – on request – perform tunes from Olivier’s and Joscho’s latest CD “Gypsy meets Groove (Germany 2012)”, an album that fuses traditional Gypsy Jazz with elements from Pop, Funk and Soul music – the only one of its kind. Please note that Gypsy Jazz Attack is the only band that offers this innovative and exciting fusion of music genres.
Gypsy Jazz Attack can perform in the following line-ups:
TRIO
Guitar; bass; violin
QUARTET
2 Guitars; bass; violin
QUINTET
2 Guitars; bass; violin; drums
This line-up is recommended for clients that want the authentic “Gyspy Meets Groove Sound”
